The airline is teaming up with PepsiCo to offer zero cost trips to locations including Quito, Ecuador, the only major city at 0° latitude.

United States airline JetBlue Airways and multinational behemoth PepsiCo are teaming up to offer customers free flights to the Equador to celebrate the airline serving Pepsi Zero Sugar onboard. The airline aims to redefine what “zero” means with prizes designed to highlight it by offering travel experiences signature zero-fee perks, including seatback entertainment and live TV, high-speed onboard WiFi, brand-name snacks, refreshing PepsiCo beverages, and the most legroom in economy.

To celebrate becoming the first airline to serve Pepsi Zero Sugar onboard, JetBlue has teamed up with Pepsi to offer customers a unique travel experience with the #ZeroIsNowBoarding Sweepstakes. The pair introduced the competition with a video. The prizes include a trip to JetBlue’s destination of Quito, Ecuador, the closest capital city to the Equator, with its northern borders reaching within 1 km (0.62 miles) of the 0° latitude line.

What are the prizes?

There will be three grand prize winners who will receive roundtrip flights to a JetBlue destination of their choice (which could include JetBlue’s 0° latitude destination of Quito, Ecuador. Grand prize winners can bring a guest and will also receive a $4,000 JetBlue Vacations certificate for use on roundtrip flights, hotel, ground transportation, and activities at their destination.

A further twenty winners will receive roundtrip flights valued at $500 to any JetBlue destination of their choice in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Central America, or the Caribbean.

The 77 third-place winners will receive a Pepsi Zero Sugar travel kit, which features an eye mask, blanket, and neck pillow. Jayne O’Brien, Head of Marketing, Product, and Loyalty at JetBlue, expressed her enthusiasm to be offering an additional complimentary beverage option to passengers in the coming days:

Visiting the Equator

The sweepstake’s headline feature is a complimentary trip to Quito. The Ecuadorian capital is the only major city at 0° latitude and lies within the Andes Mountains. The town was founded in the 16th century on the ruins of a preexisting Inca city. The modern town contains some of the most well-preserved pieces of history in the Americas. Visitors can explore historic architecture, grand plazas, hilltop gardens, and stunning cultural sites.

The city’s Quito International Airport (UIO) is the largest in Ecuador and one of the busiest in South America. Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier Viva Aerobus has announced a new route connecting Qiuto to Cancun International Airport in Mexico. The new service will begin on June 16th, marking Viva Aerobus’s fifth foreign destination.

The competition opens today (April 6th) and runs until May 4th, 2023. Potential vacationers may enter to win one of the 100 prizes by tagging #zeroisnowboarding, #sweepstakes, @jetblue, and @pepsi on Instagram or Twitter and do not have to purchase a JetBlue ticket to be eligible.

Elsewhere, JetBlue announced it was introducing additional flights to Barbados. The carrier is extending its second flight from New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Barbados, adding 648 seats of capacity.
