Etihad Airways passengers arriving in Abu Dhabi were met by some familiar faces following a collaboration with Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi. Travelers in the baggage claim area were surprised by several iconic Warner Bros characters, including Batman, Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes, before receiving free tickets to the theme park.

Etihad passengers met by Warner Bros characters

As travelers from an Etihad Airways flight waited for their luggage at Abu Dhabi International Airport, they began to recognize strange items popping up on the carousel, such as a basket of carrots and a bag with a large Batman symbol on it.

Moments later, Etihad Cabin crew arrived accompanied by several Warner Bros characters – Batman, Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester and Tweety. Families and kids stopped to take pictures with the icons, who were reportedly “on their way to pick up their personal belongings before they head back home to Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi.”

As passengers collected their belongings from baggage claim, they noticed new tags had been placed on their bags holding free tickets to Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi.

This 1.65 million square feet indoor theme park, which is estimated to have cost over $1 billion, first opened in 2018 and now offers 29 rides and various other forms of entertainment, such as live shows and interactive games.

Located on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, it is close by to other favorites such as Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld and CLYMB Abu Dhabi, while its very own hotel – the WB Abu Dhabi – opened its doors last year.

The park has won scores of awards since opening four years ago, including Best Theme Park in the Middle East by the International Travel Awards and the Middle East’s Leading Tourist Attraction by the World Travel Awards among others.

The Etihad-Warner Bros collaboration

Etihad Airways and Warner Bros first teamed up earlier this year to create a smoother holiday experience for families traveling with kids.

Etihad’s “Little VIP” programme will see children flying with Etihad receive Warner Bros World gifts, such as Tweety Pie blankets and Scooby Doo backpacks, as well as priority check-in and special attention from the Cabin Crew.

Terry Daly, Executive Director Guest Experience, Brand and Marketing, Etihad Airways, said,

“We understand and appreciate that it’s not always easy travelling with little ones, however, this collaboration with Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi is designed to make the travel experience an exciting one for children and an easier one for their parents.”
